Cultivating Creative Voices: Lynn’s Impact on Theatre Students

Exploring the Transformative Influence of Lynn’s Drama Program on Artistic Expression

Lynn University’s Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Drama program serves as a fertile ground where aspiring actors not only hone their craft but also discover and amplify their unique creative voices. Through the narratives of Heather Bravo, Trevor Bishop and Dave Pitts, the profound impact of Lynn’s program on nurturing and shaping their artistic identities becomes apparent.

Heather Bravo, a senior in the program, reminisces about her journey of self-discovery within Lynn’s vibrant theater community. From initially treading the uncertain waters of virtual auditions to finding her footing as a lead performer in the upcoming April production, “Tiny Beautiful Things,” Heather credits Lynn’s supportive environment for fostering her creativity and providing opportunities for growth.

“Lynn University helped bring me to be a more well-rounded artist within my craft,” said Bravo. “Lynn helps our craft by giving us tools like our masterclasses and workshops where theater professionals come in and give us a vocal or dance or acting workshop.”

Bravo also reflected on the profound influ- ence of her private acting teacher, Suzanne Ankram-Harris, in her artistic journey. She highlights Ankram-Harris’ unwavering support, genuine care and insightful guidance, which have played a pivotal role in her growth as an actor and individual.

“Suzanne Ankram-Harris helped me a lot with my transition into Lynn,” said Bravo. “She genuinely cares about each of her students, which is what you want in a professor.”

Trevor Bishop, a senior musical theater major, shared his evolution as an artist within the nurturing embrace of Lynn’s theater program. From being pushed into acting by his family to embracing a multitude of artistic disciplines, Bishop acknowledges Lynn’s role in providing him with a platform to explore and expand his creative horizons.

“The drama program here at Lynn not only acknowledges [my desire to be a jack of all trades], they have supported that desire of learning,” said Bishop.

Dave Pitts, a sophomore in the music theater program, delve into his journey of artistic self-discovery catalyzed by Lynn’s dynamic curriculum. From songwriting to acting and scriptwriting, Pitts attested to the program’s comprehensive approach in nurturing his creative spirit and equipping him with the tools to thrive in the diverse landscape of performing arts.

“Lynn University has helped me grow drastically in my creative voice and confidence,” said Pitts. “I’m a completely different person from my high school graduation.”

Lynn University’s theater program emerges as a beacon of creativity, empowering students like Heather, Bishop and Pitts to embrace their artistic authenticity and flourish within a supportive and enriching environment.
