Luke Panzo and Lucila Gaiviornsky, two integral members of the filmmaking trio affectionately dubbed “the dream team,” have made waves in the film festival circuit with their touching short film “Oma and Opa.” Submitted to the Chicago International Film Festival, the Key West Film Festival, Film Slam and the CineYouth Festival, their creation competes among industry professionals and highly produced films.

Reflecting on his experience at Lynn University in a recent interview with iPulse, Panzo praised the institution’s supportive environment for those with an interest in art.

“Lynn University has created a great safe space for art and expressionism,” said Panzo. “While creating and collaborating, I’m not afraid to share my ideas as the people in the school are so kind and thoughtful.”

Gaiviornsky, an international student from Argentina, shared the profound significance of “Oma and Opa” in her journey.

“This film holds immense importance to me,” said Gaiviornsky. “It represents the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and self-discovery. Above all, this film is a reflection of my passion for storytelling and filmmaking, and I am proud to share it with audiences around the world.”

Panzo further elaborated on the support provided by Lynn University.

“The film production coursework and amazing professors really have given me the confidence to advance as an artist and submit art into the world without feeling afraid of criticism,” said Panzo, highlighting the role of Lynn University in nurturing their creative growth. “Oma and Opa” starring married couple of 70 years, Klaus and Dorothy Goldbach, portrays the enduring love story of an elderly couple through intimate moments of their daily life. The film captures their routines and rituals, focusing on gestures and interactions rather than the actors’ faces, culminating in a poignant dance symbolizing their timeless love for one another.

“This film is very important to me because it’s one of the best things I’ve ever made and was done with a group of passionate people who were always trying to get the best out of every scene,” said Panzo.

Despite being students, Panzo and Gaiviornsky have navigated the competitive film festival circuit with confidence and determination. Their participation alongside seasoned professionals speaks volumes about the quality of their work and the guidance provided by Lynn. Through their collaborative effort and the support provided by Lynn University’s conducive environment and dedicated professors, Panzo and Gaiviornsky have also ventured into the competitive realm of film festivals with confidence and determination. “Oma and Opa” stands as a testament to their passion, skill and community spirit. As they continue to pursue their artistic endeavors, the two are poised to make a significant impact in the world of filmmaking.
