Professional Help to Keep Mental Health Strong

Lynn students can always account on Counseling Services

The stigma around mental health — and getting help to address it — is finally starting to break as people realize the significant number of those who suffer from issues that therapists can help with.

College students have a lot on their plates, from deadlines on assignments to maintaining healthy social lives to relationships and future career plans.

Sometimes talking to friends about mental health issues is not so effective.

Lynn University’s Counseling Services, located in the E.M. Lynn Residence Center,

is an excellent resource for students to get the help and support they deserve from qualified professionals.

“College can greatly impact mental health and having access to a counseling center benefits students’ success. I think the counseling center at Lynn is perfect for mental health needs and services,” said Lynn senior Aiden Kimm.

Lynn’s Counseling Services has counselors that offer six sessions to students per semester at no cost, and additional services for a charge after the six if needed. They are trained to help students overcome mental health struggles and much more.

Whether students are ranting or sharing personal matters, counselors are there for them.

“When I went to the counseling center, I really felt they were understanding and nonjudgmental, and it was easy to talk about struggles that I had that can be difficult to talk about with other people,” said Lynn alum Lexie Van Orden.

Students can receive the confidential support they need from caring professionals who will not judge them for any situation in which they find themselves.

Many students may not have the financial resources to speak to a professional, so the six free sessions the university offers per semester is a great opportunity.

“I personally have had a great experience with Lynn’s counselors to work on anxiety,” said senior Liv Grace.

So many students struggle. Looking at counseling in a more positive and accepting way will help more people feel comfortable getting the support they need.
