Lynn University Unveils its Plans to Add More Living Space

With Lynn University’s increasing popularity, demand for on-campus housing is on the rise. This creates a good problem for Lynn, but one that needs to be solved.

In order to accommodate an influx of students, the university recently announced plans for a new residence hall that will open in 2025.

Lynn has partnered with developer Michaels Student Living for the upcoming project. The announcement, along with the recent completion of the Snyder Center for Health and Wellness, highlights the significant growth the university has undergone in recent years.

“I think it’s important for a new residence hall to open up because we have a lot of incoming students,” said Joey Palgia, a Lynn freshman. “As the years go on, the incoming class will be bigger, so I think it’s essential that we have more on-campus housing.”

Over the course of the last few years, the university has seen a sizable increase in undergraduate enrollment. In 2022, Lynn set a record with nearly 3,500 total students enrolled. With the growing student population, the school has no choice but to build another dorm.

This forthcoming dormitory project will not only allow even more students to join the Lynn community, but it will also improve student life given some of the university’s current housing solutions.

“I think it is important because we got a lot of students in hotels,” said Tiger Dimillo, a freshman. “We should try to have as many students on campus as possible.”

The expectation is that the new dorm, which is yet to be named, will open in multiple phases. Phase one will see some of the dorm rooms open in fall 2025, with the second phase’s expected completion date set for fall 2027.

The multi-phase plan aims to address the influx of students as quickly as possible while also providing soutions with on-site classrooms, apartment-style units and suites available to sophomores, juniors and seniors.

“I’m really excited about a new dorm area because more kids on campus is a better atmosphere,” said Jared Hurwitz, a freshman.

Further details about the upcoming project are yet to be unveiled, but the building is expected to be located on the southern side of campus.
