On Nov. 1st, the Lynn community celebrated one of their most popular annual traditions, Founders’ Day.

The celebration kicked off with the Great Beginnings Breakfast at the Christine E. Lynn University Center. On the menu were bagels, fruit, coffee, muffins and more indulging treats. While the community and faculty ate breakfast, President Kevin M. Ross gave an engaging speech on how Lynn was founded.

“Founders Day is a yearly celebration for faculty, staff and students to commemorate Lynn University’s beginnings,” said Lynn Events Manager Brianne Trump-Moise.

For some students, the breakfast was the highlight of the event.

“This event is just something I’ve always enjoyed going to,” said Taylor Rodina, a junior. “Everything from the breakfast to hearing about the history again and again never gets old.”

In order to cater the event each year, Lynn works alongside several local restaurants in the Boca Raton area. Helping cater this year’s Founder’s Day were Chick-Fil-A, Tomasso’s Pizza & Subs, and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice. Regardless of the source of the food, students seemed to appreciate the effort put in by Lynn.

“I think it does say something,” said Callista Elica, a member of Lynn’s student body. “Not a lot of schools would have a whole carnival in their yard, so I think it really does say something about this school.”

Between the carnival rides, free food, and overall sense of community, Founder’s Day really seemed to resonate with Lynn’s students. However, just like with everything, there is always room for improvement.

“Maybe make it later in the day,” said Courtney Lesko, a member of Lynn’s women’s lacrosse team. “That way it’s darker out and it’s not as hot.”

While Founder’s Day is named after Lynn’s history, it is also a way of bringing the community together. For staff, faculty and students, this year’s Founder’s Day was certainly one to remember.
