A Taste of Germany in South Florida

Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Volkfest, or “people’s festival,” and while it is traditionally associated with Munich, Germany, the Bavarian-born celebration can be enjoyed right here in South Florida from Sept. 29 to Oct. 26.

Boca Raton’s Oktoberfest is not just an event, it is an experience that brings a taste of Germany to local restaurants and bars.

“I’ve been to Oktoberfest in Germany two years ago, and I can say that Boca Raton captures the spirit of the traditional cuisine,” said Patricio Lastra, a Lynn junior.

Oktoberfest is known for some of the most renowned, traditional German dishes like bratwurst, schnitzel, sauerkraut and pretzels, and some local restaurants in Boca Raton welcome visitors to enjoy such German cuisine.

At The Melting Pot, Oktoberfest is celebrated with the Oktober Fondue Fest. The restaurant has traditional German beers and signature cocktails, traditional German meals and a limited-time, three-course menu including a Bavarian beer cheese fondue.

“We invite you and your friends to get ready for a unique experience that will bring joy to the table in the true spirit of Oktoberfest — and you can leave your passport at home,” said a staff member at The Melting Pot.

Biergarten in Boca Raton is an authentic German restaurant that offers a wide selection of German beers and hearty dishes like sausages, schnitzels and sauerkraut. It is the perfect place to get into the Oktoberfest spirit. This month, there is a wide variety of entertainment celebrating the festival.

“This year, I want to go around different restaurants to experience the lively atmosphere and the authentic experience right here in South Florida,” said Christian Carden, a Lynn senior.

As Oktoberfest gets into full swing, Boca Raton promises an unforgettable experience with a celebration of food, drinks and culture that cannot be missed.
