From Jan. to Dec. 2023, Lynn University’s men’s basketball team were on an exceptionally long winning streak.

Several Lynn students have shared the sentiment that this year’s men’s basketball team has been exceeding the standards set by past teams. Cole Meller, one of those students, shared his thoughts on the streak.

“One of the core reasons why the team is good this year is because of the addition”, said Meller.

The student told iPulse about the play made by Jalen Gilmore and Nordin Kapic. They are the reason that the team’s starting five is so effective in games and play so well off each other, along with the new addition also in the starting five the student stated by Tradavis Thompson, one of the leading scorers on the team.

“This guy is really good and fun to watch and he’s a good shooter and ball handler,” said Birhanu Mccavoy.

Jalen Gilmore and Nord Kapic are other players that contribute to the team’s success this season. Gilmore has been best at his 3-point percentage in shooting 40 percent from three this season and his field goal accuracy is 44 percent; Kapic contributed to the team’s success this season by his points and rebounds, along with his boosting percentages.

“I hope the team makes some noise in the tournament, and I’m excited to see how far they’ll go this year in the NCAA tournament,” said Mccavoy.

Another student who had a great take on the team watching them play this season is Jonathan Naan.

“The team is good so far,” said Naan.

For now, the coach is playing it safe with the team, but will still have different plays with both the starting lineup and bench to help them win more games coming up soon this month and later in February.
