Since graduating in 2022, Jake Moll has moved down to Tavernier in the Florida Keys to pursue a career in charter fishing.

Moll recalls visiting his grandpa in Islamorada for as long as he can remember to go fishing with his family. That is where his dream of living in the Keys began.

“I’ve dreamed of living here my entire life,” said Moll. “This is where I’ve wanted to live since I was a little kid.”

While at Lynn, Moll took advantage of Boca Raton’s close proximity to the Keys and worked on building his reputation by visiting nearly every weekend. However, while on campus, he also utilized networking opportunities that the school had to offer and became very involved on campus. He worked in the Center for Student Involvement and joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity during his sophomore year, eventually becoming president of the organization.

“Being involved on campus definitely brought me out of my shell,” said Moll. “And because of that, I’ve been able to have the skills to manage my time well and network in a completely new field outside of Lynn.”

Currently, Moll is working at the Tackle Center of Islamorada. While the hours are early and long, his passion for fishing, and drive to become a successful charter fisherman have kept him going. When he is not at the tackle center, Moll can be found working as a freelance fishing mate, working on private and charter sport fishing boats.

“My goal is to own an offshore charter fishing boat in Islamorada where I can take friends and family out fishing and make a living while doing it,” said Moll. “I moved down here because fishing is all I’ve ever loved to do, and this is a way I can make a great career out of it.”
