Self-Writing to Self-Publishing

Giuliana Carrozza Shares Her Experiences to Push People

By Katie Zivley, Co-Editor-in-Chief

After taking on interesting and important opportunities, Giuliana Carrozza has written her very own book that many can purchase online.

Her Campus is the number-one digital magazine for college women, with over 400 campus chapters around the world contributing to the Gen Z magazine. Articles categorized into lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and wellness are written by more than 7,000 writers.

Giuliana Carrozza, a Lynn alumna who graduated in 2022 with Summa Cum Laude distinction, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. She also double-minored in fashion and international business, as well as joining Her Campus.

Once Carrozza joined the organization in the fall of 2019, she continued to work on her writing skills and tried to figure out what she wanted to give to the world. From 2019 to 2022, Carrozza dedicated herself to Her Campus and helping members improve their writing. In 2022, she edited over 230 articles for the magazine.

“I believe that everyone has a talent, and sometimes we’re not encouraged enough to show or discover it,” said Carrozza. “I just wanted people to know that what makes you unique is to find out what your talent is and use it to offer something back to the world.”

She began as a staff writer, then moved up to becoming the marketing and events director for Her Campus at Lynn. Later on, she was promoted to president and editor-in-chief, which included tasks such as editing articles, approving content, leading meetings, and recruiting new members. Carrozza loved being a resource for those who joined the chapter as she got to see the members evolving in their writing, which was rewarding for her.

“I started helping people go into the same thing that I did by publishing those articles,” said Carrozza. “After a few months in Her Campus, a professor from Georgetown [University] emailed me asking if I would be interested in writing a book one day. I always wanted to write a book because who doesn’t? It was always something that I had in the back of my mind.”

She has been writing for a long time, at first with the intent to help with moving from Brazil to the United States when she was just a few years younger. Carrozza admits that it was nice to break the mindset of college students who thought they weren’t good writers because of the difference between writing for assignments and writing for pleasure. She gained leadership skills that would later on help her and her job.

“My book is really about taking a different perspective and personal branding, not only to promote yourself for your own gain but to provide something to the world that other people would benefit from,” said Carrozza, founder and author of Brand You.

She moved to Paris last July after deciding to write her own book. She has also been studying French and working remotely, which gives her time to work on various side projects as well. She is grateful for her time and experience with Her Campus at Lynn University, as it opened many doors for her.
