Gorilla Roams Campus

Has Lynn University Found a New Mascot?

By Gerard Jones, Managing Editor

Recently, a mysterious mascot gorilla made appearances on Lynn University’s campus, leaving students, faculty and staff with more questions than answers about its identity and purpose.

The students and faculty at Lynn University work hard to ensure that campus is both safe and exciting. Artistic displays, guest speakers and events hosted by various organizations are a part of the university’s spontaneity. Surprises can be exciting; however, a gorilla casually walking through the dining hall on Thursday sparked mixed feelings.

“I did not expect to see that,” said Arianna Estevez, a freshman. “It’s fun and in a way, it gets me hyped up.”

Like Arianna, many students welcomed this mysterious mascot to campus as a fresh and upbeat addition to Lynn’s already diverse and inclusive culture.

“I think this guy could compete to be the new mascot,” said Enzo Babboni, a sophomore. “Lance the Knight has got some competition.”

While some found these uncommon sightings amusing, others had mixed feelings about the random mascot roaming around campus. In fact, some people found the presence of a large, hairy creature outright creepy and terrifying.

“I’m a little embarrassed to say it, but I’m really scared of the mask.” said Mia Rappaport, a sophomore who would not even enter the dining hall until the gorilla was gone. “It’s honestly super weird. This person clearly has nothing better to do,” said a student who wishes to remain anonymous.

Is this peculiar, masked person a student, faculty or staff? Is this a contribution to the exciting student culture at Lynn University, or is it a pest that needs to be controlled? If you happen to come across this gorilla, see if you can snap a picture and send it to @lynnipulse on Instagram. We would love to hear your thoughts.
