Lynn University’s athletics, medical staff and athletic training have been one of the core reasons athletes at the university are able to be in athletic shape and properly condition. Whether the sport is basketball, tennis, or lacrosse, the prime objective is always for the athletes to stay healthy.

The rehab process is incredibly important to athletes because there have been situations where athletes get injured and cannot play for the rest of the season. Athletes use the athletic medical and training office to help and instruct small workouts to help in their recovery.

“A big part of our philosophy is health and keeping our guys healthy and what we do in the weight room and our athletic trainer Anna,” said the assistant baseball coach and recruiting director Tristan McGinis.

McGinis also said Anna helps with prehabilitation, avoiding injury in the first place, as well as making sure his players are ready for their outing before they set out. The assistant coach has trust in the athletic trainer assigned for the team and based on his comments, she is efficient with the baseball players.

“Personally, it’s just a feeling for my body that day, but it changes every day,” said Lynn University baseball player Marcus Korenkiewicz, a pitcher for the team.

For rehab, sometimes it is good to use the athletic training staff because they are professionals and know what the athletes need for their health and to recover. Sometimes athletes can know when their body is ready for the season or practice.

“It’s good our athletic trainer Anna is with us,” said Korenkiewicz. “Showing that she is a professional and knows what she’s doing along with the other training staff at the school because rushing the process, whether its rehab or prehab, can be dangerous to the athletes. Listening to the training staff is necessary without question.”

The athletic training staff always give certain workouts for the athletes to do. It can be intense or small recovery workouts to help athletes whether they are with the team, or working out by themselves.

“We have team lifts twice a week just for in season,” said Noah Lucia, pitcher for the Lynn baseball team. “One of those lifts is an actual weightlifting session and the ones later in the season is stretching and mobility.” Lucia does stretch and do mobility workouts for himself. The team can go to the staff at their convenience during the physical check about their health and conditioning.
