Since its opening, the Snyder center for Health and Wellness has risen in popularity immensely. Many athletes, regular gym and new gym members attend. However, Lynn offers an experience in the gym that is not limited to your normal benching and side deltoid routine.

New at Lynn, spin classes, yoga, pilates, and in this case, HIIT classes are offered. A HIIT class, also known as a High-Intensity Interval Training class, prioritizes the whole body, testing your cardio and mental toughness.

“I’m active, I do a lot of HIIT classes,” said Campus Recreation and Fitness Manager T.C. Allen. “It really depends on the student. If they have experience or want to have experience, try it.”

The HIIT program has been one of the fastest growing programs at Lynn. This has drastically helped the gym grow in popularity. Students and staff are thrilled about the up-and-coming yet expanding programs.

“We’re thrilled, we’re up and running. The students’ response to the gym is great, to offer 16 classes a week 4 days a week is impressive, we constantly have students in the classes, it is growing quite a lot,” said Allen.

Jason Mastrain, a HIIT coach at Lynn, has weekly classes for students that want to experience a new workout or continue their HIIT journey. Attendance is a goal for Jason, as it is for the gym staff. “Yes, lots should attend,” said Mastrain. “It’s a great way to meet a new friend and it’s designed for people at all levels.”

Most importantly, Mastrain thinks health is such an important component these days. Whether it’s in the gym with weights or in a HIIT class, being active is extremely important.

“I think health is the most valuable thing,” said Mastrain. “It’s the most important thing for a good quality of life.”
