Film Club’s Fun Frenzy
Film Enthusiasts Attend Film Club Meeting

On Sept. 12, 2023, Lynn students were able to attend this academic year’s first film club meeting in BrandStar Studios to discover the world of filmmaking.
Last year, the club had little participation from students. Hunter Rossi, the new president of the club, decided to take matters into his own hands to increase participation and make the experience a fun one for everyone. It is his hope to pass down his passion for filmmaking.
“Last years’ club was run by seniors,” said Rossi. “I’m here to give my fresh perspective and vision.”
Last year, one of the club’s biggest achievements was creating the short film, “I Was Here.” The film focused on Lynn seniors who were about to graduate. Inspired by the film, attendees discussed why they showed up to the meeting.
“I want to become a movie director,” said Javier Arroyo, a freshman. “I want to get to know people.”
The club is a resource for students to use the spaces on the third floor of the Lynn University Library. The mission of the club is to collaborate, direct, film, create and write. With access to the proper equipment, members can follow this mission and build a foundation upon which they can pursue careers in filmmaking.
“After attending meetings, I hope to develop my skills in film,” said Ariella Pierre, a film student
Students also played a themed game of Bingo during the meeting, with the goal of finding as many people as possible who accomplished activities related to film.
One of the club’s goals this year is for everyone to be involved in the making of a short film by December 2023. Students are confident that they will learn the skills needed to make their dream a reality.
