On March 25, 2024, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) named Nordin Kapic a Division II All-District South Region First Team member.

This is Kapic’s most recent of three honors, as he was selected to the All-Sunshine State Conference (SSC) First Team on March 7, 2024, and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-South Region Second Team on March 15, 2024.

“Being named to an All-SSC team and receiving two All-Region honors mean a lot,” said Kapic. “These achievements are a verification that hard work pays off. I show with my game what I have been doing my whole life.”

In addition to his All-SSC honor, Kapic reached a 1,000-point milestone on March 7. The 6’8” sophomore averaged 19.3 points and 9.2 rebounds with a 50.1 field goal percentage during the 2023-24 SSC basketball season, helping the team clinch a fourth-seeded SSC playoff berth. He analyzed the significance of this milestone and how it contributed to his team’s success.

“Reaching 1,000 points in two years is a great mark,” said Kapic. “It is not easily done by too many players, but my focus was not on scoring. I will do whatever it takes for the team to win, and if that means I [must] score ten or twenty points per game or ten assists, then I am going to do that.”

Kapic also expressed the impact of his coaches and teammates on achieving this level of success.

“My teammates and coaches played a big role [in] all these achievements throughout my two years here at Lynn, especially Coach Price,” said Kapic. “I also want to credit the assistant coaches [for helping me with] workouts during and after practices, just trying to get the best out of me. They believed in me, maximized [my potential] on the court, [and have] always helped off the court.”

Kapic, a native of Vienna, Austria, spoke about playing for the Austrian Men’s National Basketball Team and entering the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) transfer portal this summer with hopes of playing Division I basketball.

“Playing here at Lynn, I had a wonderful time; I met amazing people,” said Kapic. “Now it’s time for me to enter the transfer portal and see what options [I am given]. I have been in touch with a lot of D-1 coaches, [and] about sixty D-1 schools have reached out to me. This summer will be focused on improving all my skills,” said Kapic.

“I also intend to play for the Austrian national team as I usually do because I want to take the time to work on my weaknesses and improve my strengths so that next year, I will be the best version of myself. Since I started playing basketball, I [have given] everything to it and now it is paying off.”
