Taylor’s Latest Bombshell

Fans Are Speechless After Taylor Swift Announces New Album at The Grammy’s

On Feb. 4, 2024, the entertainment world was set ablaze when Taylor Swift announced the release of her new studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department” at the Grammy Awards.

In addition to the announcement, Swift accepted a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year for “Midnights.” Diehard “Swifties” believe that there were telltale signs of a secret announcement to be made at this award ceremony.

“I thought it was 50/50 as to whether she was [going to] announce something,” said Emily Cole, a lifelong Taylor Swift fan. “Most of the internet sources were expecting Reputation (Taylor’s Version) but because her tour is still going on, no one expected her to announce a new album.”

Swift’s popularity is at an all-time high. The biggest factor to this success is her massively successful world tour, known as the “Eras Tour.” However, her public relationship with Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce has bolstered that fame even more. Fans of Swift insist that the relationship had nothing to do with the timing of her announcement.

“No, I don’t think Travis had anything to do with the announcement,” said Joey Monsour, another lifelong Taylor Swift fan. “She says that she’s been working on this album since 2022, so it’s been in the works long before Travis came into the picture.”

With the album being announced so suddenly, fans of Swift’s work have been bursting at the seams with anticipation and excitement. Some are looking forward to the announced collaborations, while others are excited about the potential shift in tone from Swift.

“Honestly what I’m most excited for is her collaboration with Florence and The Machine,” said Monsour. “Their music is very indie-rock and that’s something Taylor has never really experimented with.”

“I’m prepared for it to be a fairly wordy and emotional album as opposed to a pop album,” said Cole. “But you never know what Taylor has up her sleeve.”
