Navigating Study Abroad Admissions at Lynn University

While studying abroad can offer a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in a new culture, it also allows students a chance to learn about the world through hands-on experience.

While Lynn Students can continue to study their major while abroad; they shouldn’t feel limited. Many programs offer various options for completing elective and dialogue courses while abroad, allowing students to explore their interests and learn about different cultures, all while meeting graduation requirements.

“Students don’t need to feel limited by their majors; if you want to do a summer in Japan and study anime but you’re an aviation major, you can take your elective and do it abroad,” said Caroline Martins, a study abroad advisor.

Housing can vary depending on the program, with options ranging from residence halls, apartments-style housing, all the way to homesteads. Some programs also offer hotel stays for students only studying for a short amount of time. Regardless of the housing choice, students will be able to experience the beauty and culture of a new city.

“For longer and semester terms, it’s usually either homestays or apartment dorm-style housing,” said Martins. “You’re probably somewhere beautiful, so you can explore the city while walking to class.”

Students may face challenges during the study abroad process, such as financial burdens and stepping outside their comfort zones, however, study abroad advisors are there to help students overcome these challenges. These advisors are the ones responsible for providing financial aid options and helping students prepare for their adventure abroad.

“We also offer scholarships, and sometimes the programs you’re applying to have their scholarships, so there is help where help is needed. Every possible doubt that you have, we can talk through it; we’re here to help you,” said Martins.
