From the end of September to the end of October, Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market in Boynton Beach, Florida is hosting their annual fall festival for everyone to celebrate the seasonal joys of Autumn.

While Florida may not receive cooler temperatures and colored leaves during the fall months, Floridians can still satisfy their fall fever by participating in multiple fall activities and traditions.

This season, Bedner’s is offering fall-themed activities 7 days a week, including a pumpkin patch, tractor rides, a sunflower field, an animal farm, a corn maze, axe throwing, and live entertainment.

The festival has drawn in large crowds year after year, especially on weekends.

“It gets crowded right away,” said Austin Bellrose, a farm worker. “Mostly families with small kids come during the weekends when it’s busiest.”

While the event offers a wide variety of food, the most popular items include apple cider doughnuts, homemade ice cream and roasted corn.

While Florida’s fall season appears vastly different from other parts of the country, the southern heat allows Bedner’s to offer activities that would be impossible in a colder climate.

“We just added the butterfly and ladybug exhibit,” said Christian, a cashier at Bedner’s.

Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market started in Pennsylvania and opened in Florida 13 years ago. They have two other locations in West Palm and Delray Beach; however, Boynton is the only location offering the fall festival. All of the markets offer natural sweeteners such as honey, freshly squeezed juices, baked goods, fresh bread, Amish products, and more.

By purchasing produce grown on a farm instead of purchasing from a store, Bedner’s allows its customers to have a more comprehensive idea of what is going into their food.

“We are a sustainable farm with no GMOS and no artificial pesticides. We actually use neem oil as our pesticide,” said Bellrose.

Neem oil is a naturally occurring pesticide found in seeds from the Neem tree.

While the fall season is a popular time for the farm, the farm also offers a “pick-your-own” service. “In about a month from now, we do u-pick, where people can pick their own cucumbers, tomatoes, and different vegetables,” said Bellrose.
