Things to do as a student on a budget

While Boca Raton is well known for its glitz and glamour, there are many opportunities for students to engage in the community and hangout with friends, without hurting one’s wallet.
Living in South Florida can be great. Between the culture and the beaches, there is so much to experience. Unfortunately, being a student also means living on a student budget.
“Going out with my friends usually means spending a lot of money,” said Diantha Matthews, a Lynn junior. “I have to say no a lot because I can’t afford it.”
While this can be the mindset of many, there are many opportunities to leave campus and enjoy time with friends without breaking the bank.
If spending time surrounded by nature is something that you enjoy, a trip to the Wakodahatchee Wetlands might interest you. This park is located about 15 minutes away from Lynn and is a great way to walk and chat with friends while surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Many places also offer student discounts with proof of an ID. Movie theater tickets at Cinemark Palace 20 are available for purchase at a discounted price for students on weekdays. This is a great way to unwind after a long day, both alone or in a group.
“I love a good comedy movie,” says Mathews. “I like chilling with my friends and sharing laughs.”
Mizner Park is also full of restaurants and shops that can be student friendly. There is even a dog park, named Mizner Bark, where you can bring a furry friend to have some fun. Mizner Park is a good place to walk around and experience the beauty of Boca.
“Even though I live on campus, I don’t spend a lot of time exploring,” says Mathews. “Boca is so beautiful and I would like to see more of it.”
One of the nicest places to go happens to be only a few miles from Lynn’s campus. The beach is always a great place to visit with friends. Watching the sunrise or sunset is a great way to hang out without spending money.
There are so many different places to go and things to do near campus. While Boca is an affluent area, many establishments make sure they are accessible to all students.
