Lynn University Celebrates Cultural Diversity

A Small South Florida College is a Global Melting Pot

Lynn University is a hub for inclusion and cultural diversity for students and faculty. 

Take a casual stroll through Lynn’s campus, home to more than just beautiful buildings and landscape, and various fashion choices, accents, languages and ethnic features from every corner of the world are noticeable.

Ethnic diversity is important because it brings together a variety of perspectives, experiences and traditions that enrich our society. It fosters understanding, empathy and respect among different cultures, creating a more inclusive and harmonious environment.

Being among the top international small colleges in the United States, at Lynn, students and faculty pride themselves of being part of an ethnically diverse atmosphere and see it as a part of the university’s magic.

“It’s really cool that I have friends from places like Trinidad and Puerto Rico,” said Jhalen Rose, a Lynn student. “It’s even more exciting that it’s normal to have friends of different ethnicities.”

The Circle of Flags by the main entrance to campus welcomes members of the community and visitors by the main entrance with a colorful representation of the Lynn’s commitment to diversity.

Named after Yvonne S. Boice, who first conceptualized it in 2002, the display celebrates over 179 countries that Lynn students and alumni represent. 

“We celebrate multicultural relations at Lynn,” said Director of Enrollment Management Taryn Hamill. “Since I first came to the university, cultural inclusion continues to grow each year.”

Ethnic diversity is spread across campus and can be found in classrooms, on sports teams, in different departments and various organizations. According to niche.com, “U.S. News & World Report” has recognized Lynn for its innovation, international students and value.

Because is the diversity, innovation and creativity are ignited by promoting the exchange of diverse ideas and viewpoints. It challenges stereotypes, promotes equality and helps create an environment wherein everyone feels valued and represented. Embracing ethnic diversity not only celebrates differences but also strengthens collective identity as Fighting Knights and wholesome human beings.
