Swift Shuts Down Charts

The Top 5 Taylor Swift Songs on Lover

Taylor Swift’s seventh studio album, Lover, has earned over one million dollars in sales. It is the longest album she has produced yet, featuring 18 songs.

Swift tends to release music inspired by breakups, romance, and wanderlust moments. Her biggest hits over the decades include “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “Tim McGraw,” “Teardrops on My Guitar,” “We Are Never Getting Back Together” and “Shake It Off.” In her newest album, the country-turned-pop singer shares glimpses into her secret relationship with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn, she takes a stance on equality, and she explores calming, soulful, and exciting sounds.

Swift not only released a new album, but she also created a clothing line with Stella McCartney and exclusive products at Target. Four editions of scanned copies of Swift’s most precious journals that inspired her music over the years hit the stands on August 23rd at Target. Though Swift’s fans adore her entire album, below are the top five fan-favorite songs off the new album:

1. “Afterlight”

“It’s all me, in my head. I’m the one who burned this down.”

This song pulls on the heartstrings when Swift takes responsibility for some conflict in her relationship.

2. “You Need To Calm Down”

“Shade never made anybody less gay.”

The singer takes a stance on equality in this song.

3. “The Man”

“I’m so sick of them coming at me again, ‘cause if I was a man then I’d be the man.”

Over the years, many critized Swift for writing music based on her love life while other male pop stars, such as Sam Smith, received praise for doing the exact same thing. This song brings up the topic of sexism in society and the music industry.

4. “Lover”

“Can we always be this close forever and ever?”

A relationship can go grow into love and even sometimes a family. This song relishes in those wanderlust moments.

5. “Paper Rings”

“Went to stalk you on the internet. Now I’ve read all the books beside your bed.”

This song is perfect for those moments where you feel the exhilarating passion that comes with a new romance.

Swift’s tour has yet to be announced, but until then, fans will all have the album on repeat.
