Taking on the World

Today’s commencement ceremony marks an outstanding achievement and the start of an amazing journey for 281 students who will receive their undergraduate degrees.

Faculty, staff, families and friends have gathered to celebrate the graduate’s accomplishments, which they have entirely earned with hard work and commitment. This morning’s 49th commencement ceremony will feature a speech from David Flink, a social movement leader and an ambassador for individuals with learning differences and ADHD.
Flink is the co-founder of Eye to Eye, a national mentoring movement, with a vision to “create a world in which people with learning differences and ADHD are fully accepted, valued and respected.” Flink has looked forward to speaking this morning for some time now.

“I’m thrilled,” he said. “There are many reasons why but one for sure is to celebrate the graduates’ launch to create greatness in the world.”

Alongside, the undergraduate speaker, Bel Zelaya, will grace the audience with her thoughtful words. Zelaya has served as the president of Best Buddies, an on-campus organization that creates opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As one of her greatest efforts, Zelaya started the “Spread the Word to End the Word,” campaign and 5K run on campus.

The 2014 graduating class has had unforgettable experiences while at Lynn, some of those being the final presidential debate in 2012 and the remarkable 50th anniversary celebration. Additionally, this class has experienced the rapid progression of Lynn’s 2020 plan.

On behalf of the editorial staff, we thank everyone who contributed to such wonderful years at Lynn. The members of the Lynn community are exceptional and without them our experiences would not have been the same. We extend special gratitude to the faculty and staff of the Eugene M. and Christine E. Lynn College of International Communication for all of the dedication and support they gave us.

Congratulations to the class of 2014, we wish you the best of luck!
