Lynn Students Live Final Four Experience

The NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four is one of the largest and most anticipated college sporting events in the world each year. This year, Lynn offered a select group of students the once in a lifetime opportunity to attend.

On April 1, students traveled to the University of Phoenix’s stadium in Arizona and were fortunate to experience the excitement and festivities of the tournament first hand.

“My favorite part of the entire trip was being able to have media credentials that allowed us to attend practices and press conferences,” said Lourdes Rubero, sophomore. “Another really fun thing we were able to do was play knockout with some of the players from the University of North Carolina on the night of fan fest.”

Though there was time for fun and play, other students took advantage of the opportunity from a more professional and career based standpoint.

“I was able to enhance my personal connection with current professors as well as receive constructive tips while working events and sitting in on interviews with players and coaches,” said Donald Gordon, senior. “Choosing Lynn, I knew they offered great trips like this to students and I will never forget the hands-on experience I had working at the Final Four. It really was amazing.”

Aside from witnessing behind the scene details, students were able to watch the games being hosted.

The four teams that made it to the Final Four were the North Carolina Tar Heels, Oregon Ducks, South Carolina Gamecocks and Gonzaga Bulldogs. The tournament ended with a final victory for the Tar Heels and the school’s sixth national title. The win came as a redemption for the Tar Heels after a shattering, buzzer-beating loss in the championship game from last year.

This year’s Final Four was one to remember for college basketball fans and even more so for the Lynn students who had the opportunity to attend.
