Community Egg Hunt Returns To Campus And Invites All To Take Part In Fun Event

The second annual Lynn University community egg hunt will be hosted this Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m. on the Perper Intramural Field.

With a variety of prizes and colored eggs, Lynn’s community Easter egg hunt invites locals to come out for a grand Easter celebration. All participants will be asked to fill out a waiver before taking part in the hunt and to bring their own egg baskets.

Children 10 and under are welcomed to join in the fun free of charge. Children will be divided by age groups for an equal opportunity at selecting a variety of vibrant, prize-filled eggs.

“As a father of two young children, eight and two, I noticed that there were no free egg hunts open to the entire community in Boca Raton,” said Alex Perez, assistant athletics director. “I had only heard of local events that charged admission and featured egg hunts.”

As a result of this, Perez became inspired to introduce a community egg hunt that was open and free to the public of Boca. Perez and his team within the athletics department at Lynn began organizing the egg hunt each year to give families a complimentary, safe and fun-filled day. The majority of the staff volunteering and participating at the event include Lynn student-athletes who are eager to help.

“Like our annual Family Fun Day event, the egg hunt serves as a community-engagement opportunity for Lynn student-athletes,” said Perez. “They will assist with the stuffing of thousands of eggs prior to the event and then assist with registration and other duties during the event.”

Last year’s egg hunt attracted 1,000 people and is expected to do so again. Participants are given the chance to pick up a variety of candy and toys, as well as the grand prize golden eggs.

“Several golden eggs will contain special prizes from event sponsors like Chick-fil-A, Moe’s Southwest Grill, SportClips, The Habit Burger Grill, Sparez Bowling, Coca- Cola, Tijuana Flats, Fit Foodz Cafe, Kids Choice Sports, Dance and Fitness and more,” said Perez.

Many of the sponsors who donated the prizes will be in attendance to provide participants with samples and giveaways. A featured exhibitor for the hunt is ESPN West Palm Radio.
