How Students & Faculty Utilize Lynn’s Intramural Spaces to Stay Fit

By Delaney Gould, Staff Writer

As Lynn continues to expand, students, faculty and staff have found numerous ways to stay active using the many intramural spaces on campus.

Although it may seem as though Lynn’s recreational facilities are reserved for athletes only, it is quite the opposite. Spaces like the Perper Intramural Field, Recreation Courts and the McCusker Pool Complex have opportunities for members of the entire Lynn community to stay active and have fun with friends and colleagues.

“We love coming out here [ to Perper Intramural Field],” said Connor Fassold, a freshman. “It is a great way to make more friends and introduce ourselves to new people, while getting somewhat of a workout in too.”

At all hours during the day, students and staff can be spotted out by the pool, on the courts or on the field playing basketball, tennis, football and even lounging in the sun getting a tan.

“My friends and I come to Perper a lot during the week to play football,” said Adam Kearns, a freshman. “It is a great way to get some exercise.”

Similarly, the intramural spaces provided across Lynn’s campus allow students to stretch their horizons by getting a simple workout outside the gym. Instead of lifting weights or running on a treadmill, students can swim laps, play basketball indoors or outdoors or play any game imaginable in the many recreational areas.

“The campus gym is way too small, especially when the athletes have to use it as a team,” said Cole Meller, a freshman. “I speak for a lot of people when I say we are excited for the new Snyder Center to be finished so we can have more space to work out.”

With the continued growth of Lynn’s campus, the possibilities for fitness and activity are endless. In utilizing the recreational and intramural spaces, students can share in making memories, staying fit and enjoying all Lynn’s campus has to offer.
