Lynn’s Swim team is excited to be able to compete all year long this year after not having a full season the past two years. Learn about the recent changes that have occurred on the team and the great opportunities the team can enjoy with having a full season once again.

With the swim season underway, Lynn’s swim team is training hard to earn many new personal records. This year, there are many new faces on Lynn’s swim team with there being 16 new members to the team and a new assistant coach, Mike Greisl. The addition of these new swimmers and the return to the team’s usual practice hours makes the team confident that this year will be a successful one for the program.

“I think that this team has the potential to be the best it has ever been this year because we have a lot of newcomers who add even more depth to the team and we are back on our regular training schedule this year after having to modify our training schedule all last year due to the pandemic. We also have a new assistant coach who will further help us with our training,” said Karolina Smylek, women’s swimmer. “I’m really excited for this season.”

After already competing in a couple of meets this season, the team is excited to be able to attend many competitions throughout this year after only being able to race in four meets last year. One race that many of the swimmers are excited for is the Sunshine State Conference meet since the Sunshine State Conference meet was not held last year due to the shortened season.

“The results at the Conference is what I am most excited for this season because that [is] the final race where we have to swim fast,” said Luna Mertins, women swimmer.

Similar to many other Lynn teams, the swim team has a strong bond during practice and outside of practice.

“I think it’s a pretty fun team, the guys are pretty close,” said Ignacio Alvarez. “We sometimes hang out at the beach and play volleyball.”

The swim team hopes to see many members of the Lynn community at their next home meet.
