Portable Mask-Cleaner: Glove Lite Provides A Convenient Mask Cleaner For Individuals On The Go
The new start-up, Glouv Lite, might just be the perfect way to store and sanitize a mask and ultimately reduce the risk of catching COVID-19.
Glouv Lite is a portable face mask sanitizer device. The product opens up so the user can place their mask inside. The face mask case then uses its special ultraviolet [UV] C light to kill the germs on the mask.
“Glouv Lite uses UV-C technology that breaks down the DNA of 99.9 percent of bacteria and viruses living on your face mask,” said Glouv Lite via the company website. “Simply place your mask into Glouv Lite, and the high efficiency 270 nm range LEDs will help neutralize those pesky germs.”
This product can be incredibly helpful in schools. Students often reuse the same mask repeatedly, which can increase their risk of getting the virus. Masks are usually not cleaned every day because students are typically not doing their laundry every day.
“This should help a lot for us, because students forget their masks in their dorm rooms a lot and also, not to mention that some people don’t always remember to use hand sanitizer,” said Will O’Leary, student. “I would say this kit will be useful so that everything can be there all at once and take it anywhere you go.”
Most people are familiar with UV lights, but they do not realize there are three different kinds of UV lights. The Glouv Lite uses UV-C light to clean masks, and UV-C is the most harmful to human beings. Luckily, every time the Glouv Lite is opened, the light is shut off to protect the user.
“UV light comes from the sun and emanates in three wavelength categories: UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C… UV-C light is germicidal [UV-A and UV-B light are not]. UV-C is even effective at neutralizing ‘superbugs’ that have developed a resistance to antibiotics and other methods we currently use to combat them,” said Glouv Lite via the company website.
